I get a lot of comments from people who love our house and think that it looks like something out of a magazine. And in some ways, they’re right. Of couse, this is only insofar as magazine photos are staged and unmolested by humans and animals. When we take photos of the house for the blog, we do a great deal of cleaning and staging and tying up of the
children dogs. With four kids (one of whom is a teenager) and two shedding dogs, it’s impossible to keep this house in any sort of regular order. I try to remind myself that life doesn’t happen when you are cleaning up. Life happens when you are making messes and memories.
I also get comments from people saying how much they like the honesty and reality in my posts. Honesty is one of my core values. Being yourself is the best way to sort those who like you for who you are from those who don’t. So this post is my way of saying, ‘How you like me now?’
Last Sunday morning I looked around the house and had to laugh to myself. I wondered that the readers of this blog would think of the way the house looks. I love lazy Sunday mornings. I had already cooked breakfast for the family. Two of us were in the family room watching ‘The Hunger Games’. The other two in our bedroom watching old episodes of ’30 Rock’. Cloudy and gray outside, this is a heavenly way to spend the morning.
So in the interest of full disclosure, I am letting you into my Sunday morning world. I hope you enjoy and this makes you feel good about your own hovel.
Fake and real….
And complete with retainer left on the bed…
And yes, I am even sharing a dust bunny hairball with you. Believe me when I say this is not the only one.
Feel better now?
